- JESSICA AIKEN
Jessica Aiken received her MFA from Northwestern University in 2003 and her
BFA from The University of Illinois at Chicago in 2001. She has been a part
of the following selected exhibitions; "FUMED - meditations on Urban aesthetics
(POLVO), “Art on the Lake” (suite 4005), “Domestic”
(Mars Gallery), “Experiencing Memory and Nostalgia – Northwestern
University MFA exhibition” (Mary & Leigh Block Museum of Art), and
“Culture Shock” (Kings College - London, England). Aiken’s
selected curatorial experiences include: “Bello Foundation Art Sale &
Auction" (Mars Gallery) and "Free Gift withPurchase" (GBU Gallery).
Aiken has worked in digital media as a video editor (Speed of Light 2003 Cira
grant recipient) and as a freelance graphic designer/web marketing manager (CB
Richard Ellis). Aiken was a teacher assistant of painting, printmaking, and
multi-media art at Northwestern University. She also designed and instructed
a course on alternative printmaking techniques for The University of Illinois
at Chicago Alumni Association. Aiken currently teaches group and private yoga
classes at many locations throughout Chicago and nearby suburbs. Her work is
currently in a show curated by Jaime Mendoza at Polvo
gallery titled "FUMED". In 2006, she will be a part of "Artwork
of the Oppressed" a show curated by Mia Garcia revealing issues of racism,
sexism, and classism in women's artwork.
